How can I tell if I have a aftermarket chip?

My car doesn't run anywhere near the 220 mark like I believe it did factory. I'm running a 180 Tstat and my temp just barely goes above 1/4 of the gauge. Looks like 170ish to me. The pass fan turns on with the key and the driver turns on shortly after its been running. The sensor for the secondary fan is unplugged and broken but the secondary fan still turns on with the key. Where is the ecm in our cars? Its a 89 L98 Iroc. thanks

Sounds like the secondary fan wire is touching metal/grounded somewhere. Mine did that once when the fan wire melted onto one of my headers.LOL

Take that wire and wire into a 12 V switch and then ground the other end and you'll be good.

The wire is unplugged and laying on the frame/body. The plug in is melted. Someone had tried to heat tape it back together.
