ECM 1226865

Car is 85, Transam, 305 HO, 4bbl carburator, G code.

ECM is 1226865. Need to know:
1. Am I correct when I say my ECM has EPROM and not MEMCAL?
2. Is there any special tool to remove memory from ECM.
3. It appears that there are two pieces in memory slot. Do I remove the right one only?
4. Rockauto sells 1226865, but it doesn't show having any memory. Site doesn't have any memory for 1226865, where and what kind of memory do I buy.
5. Do I have to reprogram this memory.

Thanks.

Looks like a C3 ecm? I've never worked on CCC ecm but if it has 2 chips the big one will be the one that runs the engine and the little one is called a Netres and is the limp home chip. Usually replacement ECM do not come with either.

Re: ECM 1226865

disconnect the battery, remove the ecm, remove the eprom access cover, remove your eprom and calpak and install into the new ecm. install the access cover, install the ecm. reconnect the battery . Done !

tunedperformance' thanks.

Do I need any special tool to remove memory, or do I use a flat screw drive to pull it out.

Re: ECM 1226865

You can use a screw driver but normally your fingers will work. They just come straight out.
