MemCal needed

Hey folks,
I'm new to this site and it looked like a good place to ask this question.
We are working on a Rock Crawler with a engine from a 91 Camaro V6 3.1L installed. It has the O.E. ECM and fuel injection system. 1227730
We've run into a problem and need to find a O.E. Memcal for it.
The broadcast number is AZTY 1407 and the part number is16171406.
It has been discontinued from GM. If anyone has one of these for sale please let me know. If this needs to be posted in a different place let me know.
thanks

Re: MemCal needed

I see vendors on ebay show memcals but not 3.1L. I wonder if they have a source to obtain one?

Have you considered a salvage yard?

Yeah, we've tried 3 different ECM's from salvage yards,, but they were off of FWD vehicles and didn't run right.
I believe that it'll take a Memcal from a 91-92 F body V6
Thanks for the reply.

Yes, FWD is DIS. The spark timing will be way off when used with a distributor. Note that AZTY has VATs enabled.

Re: MemCal needed

The FWD MEMCAL can be programmed with the RWD BIN.

I have a lot of V6 MEMCALs. Let me know if you need someone to help with modifying a FWD MEMCAL.

Our problem seems to have started after we sent the O.E. Memcal off to have the VATS deleted. It hasn't ran very good since.
The scan data shows 15 degrees of Knock Retard,, even with the ESC disconnected. and the base timing value is the same with the set timing connector connected or disconnected. This seems to cause the manifold vacuum to be low,, and the MAP voltage high, which causes a rich condition. Have any of you fellows that program Memcals seen anything like that. thanks

If that is the original AZTY memcal, something went south with the burn.

Did you see Rbobs remark? They are very different.

As suggested, it sounds like the programming went bad, either something in the bin itself, or while the E/PROM was being programmed.

You will get "knock retard" when the Knock Sensor is disconnected, usually I see about 4* indicated though, in most applications, not 15*.

It sounds to me like you're running on LHM (Limp Home Mode), but in most cases if that happens, there is no ALDL data, though not always the case.
