Hypertech chip question

Hi guys, I have a 92 T/A vert and it smells rich.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I have done so because the car had been fitted with a Hypertech chip, but looking at receipts that came with the car shows a new 195 degree 'stat.
Mods on the car as purchased are Ebay cold air,CAT delete,80 series muffler. I know that the O2 sensors have been replaced and looking at one of the plugs (the only one I can get to with stock hedders on...lol) they aren't fouled with carbon. The car idles and runs very well although when stomping on it from a dead stop it seems to lack power initially.
If this is the wrong forum then I apologize, so thanks for your assistance.

Re: Hypertech chip question

The chip is already fitted by a previous owner, and unfortunately the stock chip didn't come with the car. The car has only covered 46000miles so the engine should be otherwise sound.

Re: Hypertech chip question

Hi Ronny, it has been an issue since I bought the car. I'm going to check wether the chip is a piggyback type, and if so I will put the stock one back on. If not I have no stock chip and should I then get the appropiate lower 180 thermostat.
Thanks

Re: Hypertech chip question

I would not be concerned about the therm. I run a 180 but when air temps outside are over say 75F i will be over 185-190 in traffic and at 185-190 area on xway at 68 mph. To run 180 day in and out you need a higher grade radiator.

Re: Hypertech chip question

Maybe less emishions when hotter?

Performance? Maybe not. I know the intake + TB needs to be fully heat sunk for TBI to function well. Air Gap is not recommended.

Re: Hypertech chip question

So do you think that the Hypertech chip is causing my problem or could it be something else? I have no SES light BTW.

Re: Hypertech chip question

Problem solved!!! I took out the ECM and took out the chip, and luckily it is the piggyback type so I put the stock chip back in and now it runs fine.
I looked at the Hypertech website to check out the part number on the chip and it turns out the previous owner bought one for the 350TPI when the car has the 305TPI, so that may be why it was overfueling.
