Electronic Spark Timing
I posted my issue in another department however this seems like a better place to address it (hopefully I don't get in trouble) 89 RS 305, long story short I gained a knocking noise after changing plugs, wires and distributor. I discovered that when disconnecting the EST and timing to 0 there is no knocking and then after plugging EST back in still no knocking. Turn the key to off and then start it up again The knocking comes back. What is happening here??????

Re: Electronic Spark Timing
Check the timing once the ET/BYPASS is plugged back in and the engine restarted. It should move advanced, the timing mark should go toward the passenger side of the car. If it moves toward the drivers side the pickup coil in the distributor is wired backwards.
Also check the firing order of the spark plug wires.
