CEL won't turn on

Hello,

I did some searching and couldn't find much on this, but I apologize if this is an easy one. I have an 84 T/A 5-speed, stock.

My check engine light won't come on at all, not at start and not if I put in a jumper for the diagnostic test. The ECM fuse is ok. I pulled the gauge cluster and the light bulb is not burned out. I've pulled out the ECM and all the wiring looks to be in good shape - nothing obviously loose.

What else should I check? Even if the ECM was toast, I should still get some flashing of the CEL when I put in the jumper, should I not? I appreciate any advice!

Thanks in advance,
Steve

How did you test the bulb? If bulb test good and acually lights, then maybe its the wireing to the bulb.

Thanks - I just visually checked the bulb but I will replace it just in case. I have a couple other burned out dash bulbs anyway.

When I said I checked the ECM fuse, that was just the one under the dash and after searching some more, I realized there is apparently an inline fuse for the ECM under the hood on the passenger side? Now I just need to find it...hopefully it's as simple as that.

Does the car run Ok? Or is it just the light not working.

This sounds like you need to take a look at the lamp driver 12020004 acdelco 216-51. Refer to a fsm for a schematic .
