TBI chip- can one be burn for this cam or not?
I've been told by the person that ground this cam, that a chip can be burned for it! I've also been told by person's unnamed that a chip can not be burned for my tbi setup with this cam! So can someone who knows about this enlighten me and or offer their advice as to what the heck i need to do! The engine is a 383 stroker full roller, with a modified tbi and intake as well.

You could have a chip burned to support that cam. But I'm almost positive you can't burn chips for the TBI ECMs.

It is border line. The only thing that may make it possible is the 112* LSA.

I am running the LT4 hot cam with 1.6 rockers which is speced at .525 / .525 lift and 218 / 228 @ .050 with a 112 LSA. That is just a hair larger than the cam in question and I've never really had any trouble tuning it. I've run that cam on both the stock 8746 ECM with custom tune and the EBL. In fact I am debating getting an even larger cam. Maybe I am missing something here, but I don't really get why this cam is would be a problem to tune for.

This is how the EBL system came about. Many years ago I swapped a TBI on an old school hot rod. What a mess. I started to rewrite the ECM firmware to provide the capability to be able to tune for that engine. Also created the high speed data logger at the same time.
And as they say, the rest is history...

Hi RBob, glad you chimmed in on this. Yes you get no argument from me that ebl is the way to go, if your doing it right. My problem is i've run over budget (i mean outta cash). I'm just trying to find a cheap way to get this thing running and later purchase a flash. Not trying to get the top end of the hp chart, just get it started enough to run it to n from work.

If money is the issue right now the best way to begin to tune it would be to buy a moates.net burn 2 a few sst27sf512 and g2 adapter. you can should be able to get a 746 ecm in the classifieds for less than $50 and you also need a datalog cable form aldlcables.com or equilivent. But you can make alot of progress for about $200, I would be hesitant to mail order a tune I have fixed a few lately that people have paid good money for and were unsatisfied and were told thats as good as it gets. just the injector pw setting will make a huge difference in fueling.

Would running OL be an alternative? Possibly a burn for cooler ambient temps and another for warmer? spring-fall burn and summer burn....
