Custom burned chips
I was wondering if anyone knew someone that did custom burns? I talked to someone on here awhile back that hasn't replied in a few weeks, I'm putting an lt1 (distrib, not optispark) in my 88 iroc, and I wanted to have it programmed for that with the comp cam also. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks y'all! It's a 88 lb9 right now, but I have a long block from a 97 silverado with 906 vortec heads and a cam, as well as most of an lt1 SS/Z28 setup on top

Re: Custom burned chips
I mis interpreted your post, modified coolant cross over and drilled intake still running the 165 ecm. I can assist getting it running but to fine tune it I will need datalogs with tuner pro rt or tts datamaster. Send me a pm whenever you decide to do something if you like.

Re: Custom burned chips
Nvm guys, it's an L31 block and won't match the heads as y'all probably already knew, it was a gift knowing I had the vortec heads, so I assumed it would work, haven't had to time this week with school to actually look at it, so I'll have to put a hold on the chip, but it's in my subscriptions now, so thanks guys!
Ps. Know I really now what they mean "you know what happens when you make assumptions"......... Expensive mistake...... Hell if there was power to be had from my tpi as cheaply as just rebuilding/modding an lt1 I would do it. Now I'm broke and engineless haha...... Now what to do... Anyone wanna buy a l31 long block? Hahah

Re: Custom burned chips
Actually it's an 880 block, which was made with the 906 heads I have, so it will work, shows how much I need to organize my thought process for the build however, that's one thing I need to learn from my old drag racing dad!

Re: Custom burned chips
I'm not sure what you are wanting but the Vortec heads are a bas^@&$ all to them selves, you wont be putting a factory TPI on it, you'll have to get an eldobroc manifold to do that $350 to $500 i think??

Re: Custom burned chips
What about the vortec heads? And I want the SS/z28 intake and throttle body for it, just gonna port and polish the heads and the intake, but it's an 880 block, it'll take vortec heads, so I don't need to sell it, and it's got low enough miles the cylinders are honed so it's an even 4.000 bore

to run TPI on Vortec heads you will need this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-3817 the vortec heads are worth about 35 hp at 7000 rpm where as a good set of ported iron heads will do way better than that. Also, the TPI runs out of air around 5500 rpm, the TPI is way cool for low end torque, but it is limited as far as HP. it all depends on what you want to do. I have built a 8500 rpm SBC 400 around 525hp would lift the front wheels of a 1976 elcamino, but 3 mpg was a little rough on the wallet. the current rig gets 18 average and will pull a mountan down. As I said; I'm not sure what you are doing, so it is hard to advise you. but you do sound confused SS/Z28 intake and throttle body??? that would be LS stuff not SBC, not TPI, and definatly not LT1. please explaine what you are trying to build???
also the "vortec" blocks will take the older heads, so you can do the build a little cheaper if you want

I'm sure I am, my dads the expert, I'm just trying to fill in some gaps, he's an old carbed sbc veteran. I'm still very early in the learning process, correct me if you want, I'de appreciate it actually, googling and reading and trying to eliminate my ignorance! No expert here, but very interested and enthusiastic! Thanks

With that said, TPI on a small block is the best bang for the buck, just my opinion
