1986 5.0 TPI PROM Identification Help

Ok, I've been reading a lot and am still confused. I am attaching pictures in hopes that someone can help me identify what PROM I have and if it should be replaced.

This all started because the car was exhibiting signs described by the PROM TSB below. I'm going to start another thread about the actual problem. This one is just about helping me figure out if the PROM I have should be replaced.

Here is the TSB (86-6(GAS)-66, Issued 10/17/86):

http://www.gmtips.com/3rd-degree/dox/tips/ecm/prom.htm

Car Details:

Engine: LB9, 5.0 TPI Auto, Engine Code F
Option: QDZ (P245/50 VR 16N Tire), C-60 (AC)
ECM: 1227165

Prom/Calibrator Details (this is where I need help, please see attached pictures).

Prom ID (from scan tool): 2062

Calibrator (I think, the silver sticker on the blue ROM/Calibrator cover): ANY01228290
...this would suggest I need to replace the PROM/Calibrator underneath the cover.

Here is what's underneath the blue cover:

PROM Sticker: 6004 1621 3684

There are two blue chips beside the PROM with the following numbers...

CT89550/16055375BU
CT89550/16055376BU

The link you posted applies to the AUM Bcc, there is a tab on the AMU. You can use gm wikiparts to see if there is a superseded pn for the ANY bcc or someone may chime in using TC Caldata to list Any applicable tsb.
The scan is listed for ANY is 9501

That's what I had suspected. Any idea what rev's these are? I haven't seen any documentation with those numbers on them - nor the PromID from the scan tool.

The prom Id is the part number gm/acdelco 01228290. the prom id can also be listed as the last for digits of the part number even as a digit off. The scan Id is the number that shows on your scanner also documented as 9501 . There is not a date of production on your smaller chips .

Re: 1986 5.0 TPI PROM Identification Help

So the Prom ID is that silver sticker on the carrier?

How were you able to map the 2062 from my scanner to 9501? I'm still not sure what version of the prom I actually have for reference. I haven't seen any documentation that describes the silver sticker on the actual prom chip. Those numbers are from outer space as far as I can tell .

There are two service bulletins on ANY 86-194 and 86-650 but no superseded replacement memcal number. If you were wanting to go to a newer 89 calibration send me a pm I can assist in reprograming.

Aren't there a number of differences between the 86 and 89 that would make the programming different from year to year? I've heard something about disabling a 9th injector for cold starting, is that part of the deal?

Your correct 89 contains a highway mode and uses all eight injectors instead of the csi. The fan select switch type also needs to be changed in the programing as well as vats disabled.
