EGR delete, what ECU mod?
Hello,
I have a firebird trans am
-87 and I am running a stock engine with HH 1 5/8" headers, exhaust without cat, 1.6 rockers and no EGR.
What alternatives do I have when it comes to ecu mod? Send it in to a company like pcmforless or PCM of NC and use an adapter?

Re: EGR delete, what ECU mod?
IIRC, the easiest way to disable the EGR code is to relocate the MAT sensor. Stock is in the bottom of the plenum, many move it into the incoming air stream.
The only thing that year ECM code uses the MAT temperature for is to enable the EGR. Keep it cold and the ECM never enables it.
The other thing that can be done is to set the EGR enable temperature threshold high. Need to burn a chip to do this. Moates G1 adapter is the easiest way to R&R the chip into the ECM.
RBob.

If the MAT is only used to activate the EGR, wouldn't it be easiest to use a resistor to fool the ecm into thinking that it is cold all the time?
