Were there any third gen camaros made without an ECM? ....

I picked up an 85 Berlinetta (LG4) to get parts off of for my V6 -> 305 swap, when I removed the dash & went to disconnect the ECM there wasn't one, just an empty upper shell from one with the berlies "black box" attached to it (for electronics) I disconnected the black box & started the car to see if this was infact the ECM but the car fired up with no problems.

Could the ECM have been located somewhere other than on the Passenger side behind the dash? I followed the wires and didn't see an ECM

My 86 305 Iroc 4BBL did not have an ecm

originally, but I hate getting dirty to tune my car, now it has TPI

i also had an 84 camaro with no ecm, although it was supposed to according to everything i've read, i chalked it up to the car being canadian

It will make it that much easier to do the swap.... Hopefully it will pass aircare; My car is newer & had an O2 sensor and a smog pump where as this one does not
