Do i retime before jet chip install?
Hello. Just bought a used jet chip (till i can afford to buy custom chip) for my 87 350 tpi car. Car was originally a 305 tpi now has 350 w 350 injectors 350 esc module. Now im putting a 350 tpi jet chip for 87 in it. Car had the timing advanced by previous owner. Should i put the car back to stock timing, 6 degrees I believe, or can I put the chip in as it is now. There are no directions online that I can find on this. Thanks Chris

I believe the jet chip assumes stock timing (6 btdc)

You leave it at stock timing, the chip will adjust timing on it's own.
If you have a performance engine (ala not close to stock) then it will have issues regardless til you get a tune. A chip tuned for a stock engine is expecting 6 btdc, stock cam profile, stock injector size, etc. If it's basically a stock 350 tpi then it may run good after you set it to 6btdc.
Make sure to disconnect the esc when doing it, and clearing your code by undoing the battery there after for a minute or two.
