Use knock sensor for boost retard control

So I'm just getting into doing a low boost....7psi or lower vortec 5.7 in a 1999 tahoe. I was wondering if I could somehow use the knock sensor input wired to a Hobbs style switch that would come on at 1 psi, and ground the pressure switch. When the hobbs switch feels boost it will ground the knock sensor pcm wire and trigger the knock retard .

In theory couldnt I then adjust the knock retard tables to suit my needs to use the knock retard table as a boost retard? Or will this not work like I am thinking?
