removing ECM

I am removing the ECM wiring on my 1984 Z28. The engine has been replaced with a 350 sbc. I have removed all the wiring with out cutting anything. I have 2 wires left that appear to run down to the starter? I can't tell the original colors as some previous own spliced on to them. Does the ECM get its power right from the starter/battery cable connection on the starter? Wires originally were possible orangish or brown and a black possibly?
I just can not see where they go. I pulled the nut off the starter to free the wires but can't seem to pull them up. if it is them they go in a tube?
any help would be great.

Re: removing ECM

Those are your main power, and start wires. You need them. There should be 2 red power wires, and one purple start wire. They run to the C100 bulkhead connector on the firewall next to the master cylinder...

Re: removing ECM

ok thanks, I will keep digging I need to find what these wires go to as they go from down by the starter area all the way back to the ECM plug.

Re: removing ECM

I got under the car followed the wires and had to pull the battery cable off the starter. There was the battery cable and then 2 pairs of wires that were connected each in one ring connector. I pulled the wires off the starter and pulled on the ECM harness and up came power wires that must feed the ECM. Put the 2 power wires and battery lug back on the starter and made sure the purple wire was good.
So just FYI the ECM wires did go down to the starter on my car for constant power?

Re: removing ECM

With all the ecm wiring gone, any issues with engine lights or anything?

no issues what so ever but the previous owner did take out the check engine light but the ECM is completely out and no issues. with the ECM gone there shouldn't be anything to trigger the lights anyway
