stock ECM (7727) convert to EBL or MS

I apologize if this question has been asked/answered repeatedly but I think I've read so many tuning posts that I'm considering going back to carb and points.

I dont have a thirdgen but my car has numerous thirdgen parts. My car is an Opel Kadett with a 3100 V6 (FWD converted to RWD) with a T5. I'm not sure exactly what year of the engine but I'm running a 7727 ECM OBD1 system. The car runs OK but I'd like to experiment with tuning and see if it can run better. I also want to play around with tuning before I build another engine for it - probably a 3500 non-VVT so I want to base my tuner choice on ability to swap over to next engine.

For simplicity, it looks like the EBL is the way to go. If I understand correctly, I don't need to modify my existing wiring harness or a few pin changes - just remove the 7727 and replace with EBL ECM. That sounds good for a non-techie like me. I've also heard great things about the MS system (whether DIY or purchased complete) but I would like to know more about what wiring and/or sensors would need to be changed added to go from the current OBD1 system to MS. If someone has a link to a step-by-step how to for the MS, that would be great.

For either EBL or MS, will there still be the ability to pull fault codes?

Thanks
