8062

hey, i have a vehicle with a 3/4 350 that i am trying to go multiport on. I have heard from edelbrock that they use the stock ecm and just splice the injector wires so i can run 6 injectors. Would this work, or should i figure a way to swap to another ecm? Thanx

Yes, it works. My preference would to to use an ECM that is designed for port injection.

The '730 with the $8D mask is a decent choice. Over on diy-efi.org, gmecm, there are wiring diagrams of the '90-'92 TPI ('730 $8D) system along with the '747 system. The '747 should be very close to the '8062 wiring. May even be the '89-'92 TBI f-body diagrams there ('8746 ECM).

Just need to look at what pin does what and swap them around. Re-pinning really is easy. Just need to put together a pin-to-pin swap chart together first.

Read up on how to program the '730/$8D and go from there. Don't forget some data logging harware.

As far as i know, the 7747 and 8062 ecm are very close. I had my truck running on a 7747 for a few days until i realized my AC wouldnt work with the 7747, but it did work with the 8062. Any ideas. Thanx so much for the help.

As far as the A/c not working you mean the compressor wouldn't kick on? If so my Jimmy won't run on a 747 because of that. The 747 lacks the control programming to turn the A/c compressor on and off.

The '7730 with the $8D code supports a bunch of stuff. The A/C conpressor being one of them. It also has control for two engine cooling fans, CCP, EGR, digital dash, shift light, TCC, oil temperature monitor, . . . Don't HAVE to use all of this, but it is there if you want to.

So you can swap in a 7730 ecm, which will log faster than the slow baud TBI ecms.... just by re-pinning?

Only if swapping to a multi-port system at the same time.
