Cranks but does not start
I have a 1992 camaro with TPI and 5.7 engine. I changed out the injectors and installed Arizona speed and marine runners. .In the process I had to take off and put back on the valve covers. Now the car will not start, Car cranks fine. I have no spark. I have checked and found no connections that I may have knocked lose. The coil has power.. I tried a known good ignition control module. but still no start. Fuel pressure gauge attached to the fuel rail shows 40 PSI.. The tach shows no movement while cranking on the dash and also on the laptop attached to the car. - I don't know if it should. The coil tested good off the car. What else might have happened? Thanks for any ideas.

Re: Cranks but does not start
This is a distributor issue. No tach on dash or ALDL means that the distributor isn't working to create DRPs.
It could be as simple as the 2-wire pigtail between the coil and distributor is bad. Common issue.
After some time away from the car, go back and check the connectors and such around and for the distributor. Easy enough to forget to plug one back in.
Note: the ECM is not required for the distributor to create spark. Which is what drives the dash tach (the distributor that is).

Re: Cranks but does not start
Thank you RBob. You were 100% right. Removed the distributor and the retainer for the coil pickup disintegrated. Installed a new and installed the distributor. Started up better then ever.
A word to the wise.
Do not buy a Jegs brand distributor. In the first 1000 miles the cap and rotor broke, the ICM quit and the coil pickup quit.
