having some problems with dfi

the car is finally running!!!, but it is running really lean. is that the o2 (cause i have the stock one in there) or is it the program that it still in there. on top of that the laptop will not connect to the ecu, is should i use the 9 pin port or should i get the adapter for the 25 pin and use that??? thankx dennis

There is a chance that your O2 sensor is contaminated, but more than likely your program is off. I'd start off by replacing it anyway, you probably have had it for a while.

It shouldn't matter whether you use a 9 or 25 pin DB connector as long as it fits. With the DFI connected to the computer, you should measure a negative voltage (-8 or so to -12V) from the wires on pin 2 and 3 of the DB9 (or DB25) to the wire on pin 5 of the DB9 (or 7 of the DB25). If you don't, then either it's wired wrong, there's a bad connection, or the com port is bad on the computer or DFI. I had a similar problem. Turned out to be a bad connection at the DFI.

dfi..

i have heard that u r supposed to use a heated o2 with like 3 wires...is that true?my o2 is still good i replaced it like 10 months ago when i changed the motor

You don't have to use a heated O2, unless it is positioned far from the heads. Near the stock location should be fine. It may take a little longer to heat up. The benifit of the heated O2 is that it heats quickly, and you have more flexibility on location.

Did you get the com problem fixed?

nope i have still have not got the laptop to communicate with the car... but the car runs...it is running very lean and has a big hesitation when u give it gas..
