help : PROM removal

How do you take the PROM out of a ECM. I have to take mine out and put it in another one. Is it just a unplug and plug in type thing, or is there more involved.

If you can't figure it out once the ECM access door is off, I fear for your future.

First disconnect the battery.

The ECM is under the pass. side dash.

remove the three screws that hold the lower dash cover and remove it.

If you are lying on your back looking up under the dash it is to your left in a white plastic bracket

it has Velcro holding it in so just push it out a little and slide it out and down

there are two screws that hold the cover on I think they are 8mm

once you have the cover off make sure you are grounded and press on the tabs on each side of the PROM it will pop out

there is a small grove on the top so can't put it in the wrong way just line it up and push with one thumb on each side and the tabs will seat and hold it in

then just put all back

This is about the only question on this board I am capable of answering so I figured why not
