where is the prom chip?

i need to identify what chip im using. where can i find it. and how can i identify it? my car came stock with a 305tpi, but a 350 was dropped in, how much does that chip hinder my performence?

The chip is in the computer. The computer is under the dash, passenger side. Two screws hold the cover plate on the computer (ECM) so remove them and the plate and look inside. The big blue rectangular thing is the MEMCAL which contains the chip.

If it's a GM piece there will be a 4-letter code on the chip. If it's an aftermarket, there will probably be something indicating who made it.

Depends on what chip you have. Pretty much all mass-produced chips are lacking...they're not configured specifically for your setup.
