I have a 730 ECM and I'm trying to figure out what car/engine it came from. The PROM says Delco ANUX 8972, however I couldn't find this part number anywhere. I'm wondering if I have to get a new memcal or not. I can't read the numbers on the ESC filter(?), they're faded.

Also, how do you remove the wires/pins from the connectors on both the 730 ECM and the 165 ECM? I've tried a pushing different parts with a small screw driver, but couldn't get them to move much at all.

Can anyone help with removing those pins on the ECM connectors.

 

First you remove the backing pieces from the connector. They pull out after you have disengaged the "hooks". There are two backing pieces on each connector.

On the front of the connector there are 4 rows of holes. The top and bottom rows are used to disengage the pins. Insert a medium/large size paperclip in the hole that coresponds with the wire you want to remove. This does not require any amount of force. The pins slide out very easily when disenaged.
