Limp Home Mode, contrary to popular belief is only when the processor fails.
Your running in Soft Failure Mode.
Fix your speedo...

Hey Grumpy, will you explain soft failure mode further? Thanks!
edit: Which codes trip you into soft failure mode? I have had little luck finding in the searches and I am very curious.

As my understanding, soft fail is when the ecm sets ANY code... when you see the SES light flashing rapidly and cannot link up to that, thats hardware failure mode or limp home mode(yes I've seen it before, not a good running car at that point
)
I think grumpy did a big long post about limp home and fail safe mode a while back.

There a couple different ways the SES is handled, slow blink, fast blink and then steady.
Limp Home is when your just running on the module timing, and reduntant fuel devise..

Just to expound on it, it's when an input is out of range and the ecm uses a default setting.

I searched and could not find his post on this. I want to know what happens when my o2 sensor bites it or my cts? What happens if both go? There must be some sort of protection for the engine, right? Pull timing, more fuel? Thanks

Here is the link to Grumpy's post. I just searched for "limp". It was about half way down on the first search listings if this link doesn't work.
