Engine Temp and TC l/u

Is there a prom setting that controls what temp the TC will lock up? I used to have a Thermomaster chip that would lock up fine, but after the motor swap, I changed the chip and since then I have only been able to get it to lock a couple of times. When I had my desktop hooked to the ALDL it idled at an even 170 after 10 minutes of idling so I'm sure that it is running a bit cooler when I'm only the road but can't verify what temp cause I don't have a laptop so I can only go by the gauge which reads about 150-160 going down the road. Could I be on the right track?

Tom

60c or ~140f, that's the threshold in the ANLU and ANTT eproms. It's where you want it to be. By having the tc "loose" the engine will get up to temp faster. I guess if you wanted slightly better gas milage you could have the enable temp lowered. I moved my enable temp to ~100f.

I just want to get the thing to lock period. I don't wanna end up cooking my trans over time by overheating it.

Put a 180 thermostat in it, and tune it for best performance.
Using a cold thermostat for tuning, isn't a good answer.

If you want to change it, in the code, then find a hac for your ecm, and read thru it.

You lost me with that. Could you explain a little more about what you mean?
