Fken XP! PP not working right, what's the deal?!?

Well,

I went to WinXP over the weekend, only to find out that the Pocket Programmer is glitchy now, tends to 'pause' when trying to burn. Anyone know WTF?

Thanks,
-Craig

Yup. I had nothing but problems with XP also. My laptop has Win98 still, so I just use that for burning chips.

Well, after trying the newest version (1.50) of PP software, and jacking around with a bunch of stuff, I think I traced the problem down to a USB-based LAN adapter. All I've got is that and a sound card. Apparently it was enough to hang it up. When I disabled the USB NIC, it worked MUCH better.

Kudos to the Xtronics/Intronics folks for their great support!

I use Windows 2000....for my internet and home computing. I have had no issues with the PP2 burning chips however; I cannot get the laptop to connect with the car using Craig's program. The NT platform for some reason does not like things talking directly to the COM or LPT1 ports as far as I can gather. I have known no issues like that with any of the Win9x OS. Are you using the XP Home Edition or the Professional??

Funstick or anyone,
could you please forward me the info for win XP and releasing the lpt port. If thats was the info you have. Thanks

I am trying to get a rommaster 2 going with win xp.
The software runs fine in compat mode but I get a printer error when trying to actual burn.

Thanks
Dennis

I'm running XP Home with PP and I have had no problems burning chips. The only problem I noticed the other day was when I had Media Player running at the same time, writing to the chip took longer.

I've never had issues with my XP desktop, and i'm still using a 2 year old version of the windows software to boot. So i guess the problem isn't XP as much as what else you're trying to use at the same time.
