WinAldl data utility?

I got my cable built and it works but have yet to find a laptop to use to try and do some tuning since I've done my motor swap. My question is, can I use a desktop and pull the rear wheels off the ground and get any valuable information for tuning? Or am I just wasting my time cause I won't be able to get any useful data cause there won't be any load on the engine? I'm really trying to focus on air/fuel ratio and spark counts but I'm almost postive that it won't do me any good cause of no load on the eninge but was just looking for a couple of opinoins. Any insight would be great.
