Newbie ?'s ......Change def. files?
I'm learning slow about this PROM thing..........
1. When and why do I need to change the definition files?
2. What do I need to read my TPiS PROM, car runs "good" with it so I would like to know how its programmed?
3. or should I start from scratch with the ARAP.....?
When I get all the parts I need I dont really know how to start becaurse my car needs major tuning.........later problems......
Thanks/N.

Well, in your sig you have an 89 GTA, so ARAP would be a snap to use, or just use the stock 89 GTA bin file.
You change def files when you change ECM's ( 870 to 165, or from any maf ecm to SD) or change to a bin that uses a different def. As an example, from 86-89 the TPI cars all used the 165 ECM but they had several different "base programs" in them. There was the $32 code, $32B and the $6E code (maybe others too) each of these different codes would require a different def. file to edit the bin files associated with them, even though they all used the same 165 ecm.
Hope this is a little clearer than mud.

Thanks!
Then I dont have to worry about changing any def. files for a while
I've read that many people had problems when switching to ARAP so I'll probably start with my APYU or TPiS If I can read it.
Cant wait until I get started!
