possible tuner cat program??
possible tuner cat program??
maybe I am wrong, but shouldnt the main spark advance vs. RPM vs. Load table go all the way to 256 LV8 and 6400 RPMs on $32 bin? or does it only go that high on the 6E? I have checked multiple $32 bins and they all stop there.
do you happen to know about the $32? because when U open the BPWvsRPMvsLoad, it goes all the way to 256 and 6400, but then I run into the same issue with the main spark table. It only goes to 208 LV8 and 4800 RPMs

You will have to discuss that with GM team the designed the $32 programming. Remember, it was the first "generation" of programming available for the 165. It was later superceeded by the $32B and then $6E before GM went SD. Someone at GM made a decision that any LV8 reading > 208 would signify WOT and that you don't need any "spark tuning" beyond 4,800 rpm.
Heck, some of the other ECMs only have spark tuning to 3,200 rpm. But, in all honesty, you really don't need to be able to tune your spark advance above 3,000-3,600 rpm.
But if you want MORE tuning ability, then you should look at SD. It can adjust the spark to 5,600+ rpm and 6,400+ rpm for fuel if you feel you really need it.

I am actualy going to attempt to do the 165 MAF to MAP swap after I get the hang of doing some things with the code I have right now. I just found it odd that the two tables would differ like that, and for some reason thought at some point it did go all the way to 6400. Thanks for the explanation.

The 6965 ECM in my caprice has spark up to 3200. After that, it's just a linear addition of spark, defined per 1000rpm, with a definable RPM where it stops advancing via that slope. I think that after 3200rpm, depending on the cam and stuff, this isn't a terrible setup. Yeah it'd be nice to tweak the spark up to 6400 but....VE is the same way for my ECM, except I have an adder table from 0-6400rpm.

My extended fuel table looks like this though:
So after 3200rpm, my VE takes the same curve vs MAP as 3200.
Also, my main spark table goes up to 3600, and that's it. After that, there is a slope and spark advance cutoff point. Are you saying I can't make that cutoff point any higher than 5600? I would think I could make it advance the spark all the way to 6400 if I wanted to.
This is the only control of spark I have after 3600rpm (besides the PE adders and stuff like that):
