New Programmer Blues
New Programmer Blues
Ok I've checked out all the other material and I'm ready to start playing with my chips, Now I've run into the problem that my new chips from Craig won't erase. is there something I missed that's not allowing me to erase them or what? I did just like Intronics instructs and put the "device" in after the program loads then I did a "Blank Check" and found out they weren't blank then I tried to erase them and it says Device did not erase. What's going on? Is it me? I'm kinda feeling inadiquate right now.

Fill buffer with "FF", then program the device, then do blank check. Should check clean. Then load the buffer with your bin and program the device.
Remember to use a bin stacker or change start address to 4000 if you're running a 16K bin.

I'm runnin' a 32K chip and unfortunately I tried to fill it with FF bt it still didn't want to work. I've tried the erase function, filling it with FF, and everything else I could try. Could my chips be bad?? Neither of them work so I'm just a little sckeptical. Im almost ready to blow something up since I'm having major drivablity to go on top of everything else.
Thanks

Try using Cntrol/Alt/Delete, and close everything but Windows Explorer.
Sometimes, something running in the background will upset the buffer. Some versions of Norton can fubar a burn.

Also, make sure you have the latest copy of the PP software. Mine didn't work either until I had that loaded onto my machines. EDIT: Oops, I see you stated Intronics... What's that?
I closed everything via Ctl-Alt-Del. except for explorer. Intronics is the company for PP2. It came with the latest software so I don't know what the deal is. My brother played with it a little and said he got it to verify to buffer. The last thing i tried doing was FFing everything. So I don't know if it did it or not. I'm going to download the editor again to a disk and try loading everything on my buddies laptop. I'll let you know more tom. afternoon. Thanks guys

When I went to select the "Device" It's under a sub-heading that says
" Requires 28x00 adapter PP-II only"
What the heck is a 28x00 adapter and how come I didn't know about this before hand?? I really hate to keep dumping money into all this, only because I don't have the money. Anything you guys can tell me is wonderful. Thanks guys.

ok so their website says I don't need an adapter of any kind but how come I still can't program my chips. I can't erase them. The only thing I could do was fill buffer with 00 and progrsm it. It actually worked but did I just ruin a chip???

Ok you can tell I'm new to this cause I figured out what my problem was. Turns out the device selected on the PP2 was a different one than I had. I had selected the one I had and it jumped like 4-5 selections higher. I just went down the list until mine showed in the device selection box and I was all set. I burnt my first (yes I'm a virgin) and it went ok. All I did was play with coolant v. idle speed. unfortunately it has kicked a code and the idle speeds are still too low, no biggie. Anyway I'm now on my way, so I'll see how this goes after a little while.

I've had that same device choosing problem on my PC (Micron P-III 600 MHZ) running Windows ME... Perhaps I'll email them and see of they know about this bug or not. The only thing that saves me is that it returns with the correct device selected every time once you get it set on the right one.
