GMECM Edit version 2.10 now available

get it at http://gmecmedit.markmansur.com/

Whats new in this version:

- 3D tables are graphable by row/col. You can change the row/col mode in the Table Editor Toolbox. Selecting a new column or Row automatically updates the graph for your current selection.

- Added "Default ECUs" to preferences. You can specify a mask id and offset and a default ECU file to open a bin containing that mask ID.

- Added "Edit Logging" as a preferences option (General Prefs tab). When enabled, changes that are made to constants and flags are noted (and if a change is made in a table, a note is made that the table is changed, but not the specific value). The log is titled the same as the edited bin and sits in the same directory as the bin. Check it out! (PS - the log format will likely evolve over time).

- Fixed problem where Inc/Dec'ing a cell in a table that contains decimal change in the thousanths would not inc/dec. (i.e incrememting 1.520 to the next value, 1.524).
- various other small bug fixes

Wow! Great work. It just keeps getting better.

EDIT:
Bug report: Every time I open the program it says “can not open bin”. If I delete the setting file open it then close it then open it again it will say the same thing.

Thanks for continually updating this..

Have you been in contact with the orig Author
of the ECU format or know if there is an updated
format?

The last I looked into it (WinBin v0.11), the
ECU file could not handle an equation of the form:

Output = Constant / Bin-data

because it requires an inverse function which the
MulDivBit triple didn't provide.

Since this is used in the Injector rate, AFR calc,
RPM rev limiter, etc., you may want to check
to see if the ECU spec has been updated, or
go ahead and extend the MulDivBit field on your
own to include the inverse function.

No, there is not an updated version of the ECU format. I've brought up discussions in the past about updating the format, but because there are a number of programs that use it now (4 including mine that I know of), it wouldn't be the easiest of tasks.

I had to modify it using "hacky" methods to get the "item comments" to work (basically created a new token consisting of /*|| and ||*/ for the comments - this is an extension of the normal comment token).

I'm all about updating the format (I've got tons of things to add to it that would be necessary to extend functionality to, for instance, the new blazers and ford.

Over the next few versions I'm going to simply create a new file format and have an "import ECU" routine. This way I get all the things I need from the description file and still support the ECU file format.

Just sucks that there has to be yet another description file format out there.

I was thinking that since DivMulBit is only
defined for values 0,1,2 in the spec, that
using values 8,9 for InvDIV, InvMUL should
allow the calcs, and still allow standard ECUs
to be read in.. (it would make some ECUs
created with GMECMEdit not work with other
editors though.. But with your program, there
should be a need for any other editiors... 8-)

You mention Ford support.. Won't you have
to rename the package for that??

thanks

to be honest it doesn't matter to me. Maybe wipe the existing sticky and just make this a sticky, or wipe the existing sticky and don't have a GMECM Edit sticky (I update often enough that having a sticky might be a pain for you).

MM,

Very smooth, indeed. I'm not experiencing the same kinds of errors and odditiies I was with V2.06, like scroll bars disappearing, unexplained crashes and lockups, etc.

You've obviously spent copnsiderable time and effort on development. I'm looking into the "coffee" link on your web site now as a means to vote for continued development.

Thanks for your dedication and efforts. Keep up the good work.

this program is far superior to winbin in every way, especially functionality. i commend your efforts for making such a great program that actually works.

i can now actually use the factory rev-limiter on my $6E code. something winbin could never do, with maf cars. (to my knowledge)
