WB02 w/LCD display

Has anybody here opted to build the WB02 controller with the Amtel AT90S8535 board and LCD?

I'm considering this and would like some opinions...

This might be out of my league but sure looks trick

It looks cool but nothing beats a LED 'moving dot' if you want functionality. An LCD display is nowhere near the update speed of a LED.

This is a board a I made.

It is a small moving dot.

My engine is missing over 3000 RPM under load because of a bad spark plug. When the engine starts missing the small dot becomes 10-LED's wide. The sensor is actually seeing the exhaust going rich and lean when the unburnt gasses from that missing cylinder passes. The LED is fast enough to show that but an LCD is not.

Joby, that looks awesome. You're right about refresh rate. It's very important. When I built my nb o2 gauge I made certain the update speed was fast. It's so fast that when the tranny shifts I can see the engine go lean for a split second. When in closed loop the gauge just flickers up and down like Kitt talking from knight rider.
Anybody have any source code for running the 8746 ecm in closed loop with a wb o2?

JoBy, you don't happen to have any more of those circuit boards do you?

Using that CNC milling machine to make boards works, but it is very time consuming.

I could have some boards professionally made but to keep the cost down for each board I would have to order quite a few. I have been working on a new board layout for this using a cad software for PCB's.

I have managed to shrink the pcb size to 1.3 X 3.9 inches. The three larger dots on each side are mounting holes.

I also removed all jumpers and replaced two resistors with potentioneters. With one potentioneter you calibrate the range on the rich side and the other calibrate the range on the lean side.

Would you be interested in the board only, board and components, or pre-built units?

EDIT: Took some pictures of the protorype board installed in my 1984 Corvette.

I located all the parts but I am open to whatever you could offer. I just though I would get a board from Radio Shack next week and get some parts on order since I finally got the WB in. Now I need something to monitor it. Let me now, as I am interested. If you plan on doing some ordering of parts I would gladly chip in.

The boards won't be ready for some time so you could make your own if you are in a hurry.

This is the scematics:

Do you have any gerber & excellon files for that board? I have a prototype milling machine at work also.

That board looks great! I am interested in a board or kit or whatever.

I just started my WB02 project. I have the circuit board and ordered the sensor today.

Please keep us posted!
Thanks, Greg

This is what it looks like with the new board and the calibration potentiometers.

I have all the parts to make a few boards now.

I built one. I built the diy-wb using the diy-wb pcb, and then attached it to an Atmel dev board. I stuffed it all inside an ECM case. I rewrote the software in C code because I didn't want to learn AVR assembler. The dot display works just fine on my display, and it's plenty fast to show AE.
