My ECM over-heated!!

I went to start the motor, and it went into limp-mode right away, I tried everything to fix it - with no sucsess. I opened my glove box (which happens to be black , along the rest of my interior) and the ECM was to hot to touch, from the sunlight. So I stuck it in the freezer for 10 min, and everything was fine after that.

Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, also I can't figure out why it wouldn't work when its really hot.

That's a common failure of an ECM. When I used to work at a dealership, I had replaced many ECM's because of this. What I believe to be the problem is that the heat causes things to expand, and some things break connection.

I wouldn't be counting on that ecm.

In the ecms I've tested to distruction none of them healed after overheating them. Once they were used, again and again the temps always lowered to where they would act up.

Generally it's the injector drivers that fail first.

and to think id be looking for a short + to the injector wiring pre injector or a internally shorted injector.
