Hey chip burners ever have this problem??

Well I have a performance chip I wanted to try so I put it in and it makes my transmission change gears way to early so I went to put my stock one back in and I tried to start my car and it only starts up and then it goes dead in 2 seconds, what the hell happened to my chip?? Why does the performance chip I bought make the transmission act funny??

Did you disconnect the battery or pop the ECM fuse while you were swapping those chips around?

That is what I done

Yea, that was my first time pulling the prom out, forgot to disconnect battery. Trying to get started burning my own chips, not getting off to good start. Car wont run without a chip that works, I have learned that already.

I just started burning my own as well. I got the Moates Adapter and a PP2. With the Moates adapter, I have swapped out my 29c256 chips successfully several times without removing power from the ECM.

What are you using to burn your chips with?

stopped before I even got started

Well I was going to order the Xtronics pocket programmer but not sure exactly what is the easiest to work with. How did you decide what you were going to use? Where did you order from? I was just checking out how easy it was to change out proms since I had one sitting around that was supposed to be better than stock and it wasnt. I am really wanting to get started but not sure what is going to be easiest for me to learn with.
