help, please answer

i am swapping in a tpi setup from a 91 tpi 305 5spd. it is going into a 84 z28 HO 5spd. the cams are different. does this mean that i need a new prom for the computer, or will it work just fine? please get back to me. thank you in advance.

I did a similar swap to my Monte Carlo SS. The 91 calibration is close enough if your 305 HO is stock (i.e. no headers, gutted cat, etc). No guarentees though. Just what worked out for me. The 305 H.O. cam is very similar (same?) to the 1985 305 TPI cam.

Edit: FYI, I didn't leave the chip stock...

Anything over the counter will be just as bad as the stocker.

Bite the bullet, and get the gear, or locate someone near you that can burn a prom for you.

You will be miles ahead in doing so...
