Faster Booting car Laptop

Maybe everone knows this, but, tis news to me.

To speed up the boot time, record what you do uncheck, and try this. On my 98 machine it really helped.

They say it doesn't make as serious of change on 2000.

You can also get rid of as many useless programs (those being any that are not car-ecm-burning related) off the laptop. Like... all those instant messengers, media programs, etc. It will boot up much faster with a smaller registry file and less programs.

With win 98 running go to start, run and type in MSCONFIG and hit enter, go to the startup tab and remove the check from the boxes of things you don't want to run at boot up. Hit apply and reboot.

My laptop is used mainly for my car.
I have almost nothing else on it.
It boots up quick and makes me happy.

I've been meaning to find out for ages about how to get rid of the damned typing tutor and scan popups on this desktop- you've fixed it mate!
Tx,
John

PS
I thought when I first glanced at the thread title that this was going to be another bright spark recommending a project to emulate a PROM off a Win laptop. "Press ctrl alt del to restart stalled car, and wait for system reboot"
