Burn Chip Car does not like it.

I burned my chip last night for my Z28 but the car just doesn't like it. All I changed was the injector constant and the EGR. I need some suggestions with PPII. I do not know if the actual bin is getting on the chip. It seems to be working when I burn it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, BranZ

Why dont the car like it? Engine codes? Explain more.....

Why did you change the injector constant? Do you have bigger injectors?

What .bin did you start out with?

First off thanks for taking the time to help me with this. I changed the injectors to 24 lb Accels. I also am running a 86 Corvette intake so no EGR setup. The car goes into a check engine constant mode. The fans come on and stay on. It also runs real rich. I started out with a stock AUJP bin and modified the injector constant and EGR only. I think I am a little vague on the AA checksum and the whole PPII setup. They just do not give me enough instructions. Thanks, Brandon

Disable the checksum is as easy as replacing the maskid with AA . That's hex mind you. Programs like TunerCat and TunerPro both have auto checksum.
What software are you using to modify the binary file?
It's best if you told us EVERYTHING you are doing and EVERYTHING you are using that might be relevant to your issue. Your ecm, what year, maf or SD, etc.
There are a lot of these kinds of questions and it's really hard for someone like me to guess at what might be wrong.
As of right now I can only speculate that it might be an incorrect checksum, or you loaded a bad binary file that isn't the correct size, or you have selected the wrong type of chip in the ppII software.

Exactly what JPrevost said!

I can tell you that when ever I get a bad burn, then engine light comes on, so do the fans, and Datamaster will not sync with ALDL.

It sounds like you got a bad burn.

Make sure you select the correct chip in PPII software (ex.. 29c256) if you are using that chip. Make sure you do a blank check first before you load buffer with .bin and after you program, verify device to .bin loaded in buffer.

We need more info to help you though.

also, be sure you're burning the image to the appropriate place on the chip. You can either stack the image to get it to equal the chip size or you can use the PP2 software to burn starting at the appropriate offset.

for instance, if you're burning a 16k image to a 32k (29C256) chip, you need to burn the image starting at chip offset $4000 (hex).

I see that I did not give you guys enough information. My car is 1991 Z28 with the 5.7 and automatic. I rebuilt the motor and installed a Hot Cam and 24 lb injectors. I am using the stock computer 730 with the Moates adapter. I am also using the eeprom 256. I know that I have a long ways to go but I just need a little help. I hope I gave yall enough. Again, thanks guys for your time. BranZ
