datalogging

One quick question.Do you have to have a laptop computer to datalog or are there scan tools that will save the info so that I can download it to my PC?

Hmmm. You're not getting much response on this. Let me rush in where angels fear to tread .

I haven't seen such a scan tool. I've seen some traffic on this board about a proposal for a Palm based scan tool, but although the project is not outside the proponent's intellectual capacity, he would probably need to extend the standard day to 27 hours to fit it in .

If it's a scan tool you're looking for (like a Snap-On or similar) I would have thought you'd pay more than the price of an old laptop for a proprietary scan tool. Even a $20 machine with no CD ROM, running DOS is enough for some of the early ALDL software. $50 will buy you something to run Win 95 and Winaldl on.
