Willem Programmer Settings

I finally got everything together and got some time to start burning chips. I'm using a willem V3.1 programmer. Does anyone else have experience using this programmer. I'm having problems getting the settings right to actually burn a chip. I haven't had much luck with their support yet, so if anyone can tell me what they had to do for a message Short zif 32 pin 3<->pin 31 I would really appreciate it. The instructions for this thing are total garbage.

what chip are u using ?you do not have to short pins 3-31 on pb3 board,what soft ware are u using if 97 place dip switches like on software picture you can down load a picture of the pb3 at willem.org and see how jumpers need to be for voltage.but i need more info?is the chip in right the first 4 pins are empty pins

Sorry, I forgot to put what the chip was. I'm using AT29C256 chips, and I have set the dip switch, but I am getting a message to short the two pins to burn the chip. When I try to burn the chip I get the message Error Write Sector 0. It will also not give me a chip ID. I've tried to get some help on the Willem message board, with no luck. Thanks for the help.

hey on the board there are jumpers to the right of the zif j1 and j2 are they set for 29c256 there should be a picture on the top to show how.also jp 5 at the top right should beon the top 2 pins .below that and over to the right is jp6 jumper should be on bottom 2 pins.there also is jumper on left side of the dip switches it should be on the bottom 2pins.usually mine will id if i read the chip but it will not id 27c256.also look at the picture on the software is your chip in just like? pins 1 2 31 32 should be empty.

I have the dip switch set like the software is showing. It looks like this

u u u u d d u u d u d u

I have another four position switch that controls the vpp and vcc settings. I have the zif set into the correct postion with 1,2,31,32 empty. I have tried the jumpers set at all postions and it will not work even when in the correct positions. All I ever get is an error write sector 0. The knuckleheads at willem don't seem too worried about product support. Thanks for your help.

When I read a blank chip should I be getting 04's or FF's?

a blank chip should read all ff's are you locking down the zif lever?I have willem pb3 as well and it wil read erase program 29c256 but my chip still dosent work right?so i ordered some 27c256 chips .I let you know how it goes .from what ive heard the 29c are not exact replacements and are problems with static.:

I finally got it to work. There is a jumper wire that has to be run from pin 3 to pin 31. You have to physically run a wire between these pins for the 29C256 chips if you are using a V3.1 Single side burner. I had to double check on the willem site and I finally got some info. Thanks a lot for the help guys. I put the super AUJP program in and it runs totally different. Waiting for the batteries to charge for the scantool for some hard info. Later
