weird '749 logging..

Hey guys,

I fired up my car tonight with a $58 bin.. (was running $8d before).

It ran soo rich it destroyed my plugs. (this is just idleing, reving in place no driving).

Check this out:

Loop: closed
RPM: 1400
map: 42.45kpa
Target afr: 14.70
o2 volt: 956.64
int: 70
blm: 128 ?? wtf??
BPW fine correction: 195 counts
Inj base pw: 0.60 mSec
Total async pulse width: 00.00 mSec

loop: closed
RPM: 800
map: 55.37 kpa
target afr: 14.70
o2 volt: 919.20
int: 100
blm: 128
bpw fine correction: 225 counts
Inj base pw: 0.28 mSec
Total Async pulse width: 0.38 mSec

On the bit data:

Rich/Lean: Rich
Learn Control: disabled
O2 status: ready
Premium fuel: not active

I'd expect to have seen 108 or so blms. You have no idea how bad hte plugs looked.. It was studdering and spitting and everything.

The pw's look really really low.. I can't see them getting much lower, but my car idled fine with $8d and this fuel pressure.

Any ideas?

I'd venture a guess that the PW slipped a decimal point. Check what the PW's were with $8D and compare.

As for not going into learn mode, check the learn mode qualifiers. There is coolant, upper RPM, upper & lower MAP, and upper & lower BLM limit terms.

Hahahaha! I didnt even think to check that. Checked with datamaster, Your absolutely correct.. It appears TunerPRO doesn't display the bpw correctly.

Datamaster reports:

RPM: 725
Map: 73.6
Lterm: 128 (blm?)
Sterm: 70 (int?)
o2 mv: 955
Bpw: 3.39

I got a code 33 map low, and code 34 map high I'm running a new map and checked it, I just think its cuz the car is running soo bad.

I'll try splitting my BPW in half in the bin and retest. See if it leans it out a bit.. I have a feeling i'll need new plugs first though. It will fire but, they were black and covered with soot.

This is why it won't show a BLM other than 128 in closed loop right?

I looked around in TC I don't see anything. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Interesting topic. Sorry I can't help, as I have the same questions you do. While looking through trying to find the learn mode qualifiers I also looked at 0x0037A which states Thresh above which learn is disabled : 1000 rpm. Would that have anything to do with the block learns, or is that something completely different?

I dunno.. I dunno if I trust TunerPRO's blm count now..

Freescan wont log. Displays data in monitor windor, but nothing else.

Datamaster doesnt appear to show blm??

R U using a .bin with a locked blm value of 128 (intended for fine tuning only)??????

Every post u show a 128 for the blm but your integrator is tanked(pig rich) in every one????

Try finding a pure virgin sy/ty bin to run the car off of

I dunno. You tell me .. I dunno where you'd lock it in the bin.. Maybe set min and max blm to 128.. I dunno.

That's exactly how it's done. Works for $8D too, and probably a bunch of other masks.

Nah thats not it then. Min is 108, max is 160.

The bin I'm using was fresh. Something else is wrong.

This week I'll scan some more with new plugs, and the bpw turned down. It was 110 before, now its 60
