Swapping intake, getting rid of CSI
I have a 85 z28 with a 350 TPI under the hood, when i put the motor together i had a machine shop elongate those center holes off my 85 intake to line up wiht my new center bolt style heads. needless to say VAC leak, i was given a 92 TPI setup with everything except the ecm and wiring.
I know i will have to swap my injectors over because the TPI stuff is out of a 305 what am i going to do about that 9th injector, if its not there or plugged in do i have to do anything with it?
Thanks for the help
Matt

I don't think that the '165 w/$56E code will support your current MAF (I may be incorrect here), so you may need to change that also (if going with the '165, the '730 uses a MAP sensor, no MAF).

I have an 85 Vette (same 6870 ECM you have) and swapped to the 165 ECM. My 85 MAF works fine.
One other thing- elongating the holes to line up the intake to your heads should not in any way create a vacuum leak. Those bolts are an inch or so away from the ports. As long as theyre tightened within spec, they should create a leak. Now an OIL leak I would believe- as those bolts are known to weep oil if no sealer is applied to them. I would look for another source for that vacuum leak.

Why did you say it might not work? Someone told me the 85 maf was digital. That's wrong....

I have also heard that the digital MAFs do work with the analog input to the ECM. What happens is that the low pass filter on that input integrates the duty cycle of the digital MAF, thereby allowing it to work.
Again, this is all stuff I have heard, but not verified personally. Hence the 'I may be incorrect' in my other post.

Or can throw a stock f-body bin in and go from there.

so it is possible to do what i want, ill start putting together the stuff to burn chips i was asking to make sure i could do it before i started to grab the equipment.... is the prominator worth it?
Might check the part numbers, I thought they was the same?? I'm 99% sure it's not a digital maf. My 85 sensor took a dump awhile back. I can open it up and take some pics if you like. We can be 100% sure then one way or the other, yes? Never know it might be digital, I doubt it though...
