SANITY CHECK - 383 Timing Chart
I hope this is not infringing on anyone's copyrighted or protected info, but I'd like to do a sanity check on my 383 SuperRam's prom. Seems like I'm seeing some awfully spark advances (sometimes in excess of 45) while monitoring with Datamaster. Seems extremely high to me.....
Could some one please share their timing chart with me for a 383? Especially if they are running a Super Ram, have cast iron heads, and/or have 10 or 10.5 compression?
I'm interested in seeing any 383 timing chart, Normally Aspirated only please.
Please identify the intake, head material (aluminum or iron), compression, and intake type.
If this is not an acceptable request, I apologize in advance (and I'm sure I'll hear about it, or just not get any responses to this thread). Looks like I'll be buying a Pocket Programmer in the next few weeks, I've already bought Datamaster, so I guess the rest is inevitable......

Sounds like you're getting ahead of yourself.
I'd suggest you get you burning equipment, and then see what's in you current .bin file. The cut and paste that table in a posting here, and then we can all kibitz about what are experiences are.
Yep, lots of the Commercial guys are locked into this idea of just running against the knock sensor idea of developing a timing table. And to offset the excessive timing, they drown the motor in fuel. The excesive fuel changes the acoustic signature and then they think they're safe since it not always on the K/S. Sorry to rant..................

Follow Grumpys advice and post the timing table here, Last year I had a 383 10.4 with SR, al.heads and ZZ9 that ran pretty good, so I can compare it to my timing table but I never had 45 deg......

GM runs 45d in part throttle areas in the stock binary for the L98 Corvettes with aluminum heads. It is not as bad as some may make it out to seem. Just depends on **IF** your car likes/wants it. I ended up running 50d in some of my cruise areas. You definitely don't want to run this at WOT. But, part throttle cruise is a different beast entirely.
