Making a long story short, a friend towed his GN down for a lil learning on chip tuning. I'd done a few chips for him a few years ago, but he'd updated to a new engine and cam. Still was using some tiny 50 PPH injectors on it. I had a spare 7th injector, with a 36 PPH injector in it, so we wired that in to give him a lil extra fuel.
Not having much time, and a neat to make up for time lost on the 7th injector rehash. Primarily used the injector constant, to get the MAF tables in better shape, I'd redone them some before, and figured a couple PPH lie on what was now 56 PPH percentage wise wouldn't be a big deal. So fired up the Innovative WB, and used the tailpipe clip on test pipe, roughed in the WOT fuel. All in all it took 5 chips to dial out a rich cruise, and dial in the WOT. In all honesty, there was some time put into the WOT fueling on the ecm bench, the last time he was out, so we saved 10-15 passes in that area.
Yep, practice, and the right tools can make a difference.
Using Direct Scan, we momentarily did a 34MPH/sec accleration blast. A 30MPH/sec on street tires is real good. It's be neat to be able to really hold a number like that for more then just a couple frames.
AND I found out when it's time to relocate the ecm.
When you can't possibly get the data logging cable situated so they don't pull lose.
Migh try again in the am to get a datalog of this thing.
Take notes, analyse data, and note trends. It works.
And the clincher is that was at 18 PSI, and 17d ignition timing.
If you at Bowling Green, I'll intro you to him...
94 octane, with a big front mount.
Yep, MAF system, with a Translator.
Oh, he did a blow thru MAF so the restriction, is minimal.
*What I said, was, I didn't like hand guns, not that I didn't know how to use them*. Quigly Down Under.....
