Foung Leak ... What is the BEST valve cover gasket?
Ok, darn leak fair came and left. I found my newly installed valve covers are leaking.
I can't tell you the care I took to make sure everything was clean. I even used a bit fo silicone at the back corners ... just in case.
I am using a set of 1969 Z28 aluminum valve covers ... perhaps the surface is not quite square, but I figured cast aluminum should be OK.
Anyways, what is a darn good super duper sealing gasket? I saw some felpro's that were 5/16 thick recommended for use with aluminum heads. #1604 or something.
Anyone found a seal all gasket?
Please ....
Mark.

I've used the Felpro Orange rubber/neoprene ones on my TPI cars. Not sure if they make them for your car but they are thick and reusable. Are these the kind you are using?

I usually silicone the gaskets into the covers and leave the gasket to head surface alone so I could re-use them. I too use felpro rubber gaskets. Secret is to snug the cover and not tighten it too much. Possibly the flange is all warped.
For perimeter bolt covers try the bolt clamps to evenly distribute the pressure. If it's leaking and you tightened it with no success, the covers are prolly bent to hell.
