cell phone datalog
cell phone datalog
seems like there is a market to have someone "burn me a chip". i wonder if a datalog could be had linked to a cell phone where the "burner" can log as you do a test drive and send you a chip a month "club" with steady improvement. kinda like Onstar. i really wonder how many of us are "burning chips" in the USA (1000's?)and how many are not confident to do so( 1,000's X ??). sound too wacky?

I guess it woudl eb possible. Take the data in through teh serial port and send it out over the phone. May have problems if the datarate of the logging system is really high, though.

The burn me a chip crowd have lots of takers available to them, why cultivate more laziness, and stifle the long term development of DIY by catering to those with more money then they can intelligently spend.
The DIY community has taken enough hits from the profiteers.
And Prom Burning can go way beyond just prom burning. It developes one's sense of logic, and analysis. Why rob people of being able to actually learn and grow?. Not endorsing DIY, is just forcing folks into the slums of mediocrity, IMO.
Be all you can be, learn to burn a chip............

Have:
-PROM burner
-UV eraser
-Wide band O2
-Palm IIIc (to datalog WB)
-Scanner cable and laptop (to datalog from ALDL)
-Spare PC in garage to burn PROMs.
-Spare '749, '730, '727, '165, several '808's and 3*16183082's (I'll "need" these soon
)-too much time reading this board and 68HC11 text...
Want:
-Autoprom
-Prominator
-Ken & Bill's NB LED display
-Saturn5 ECM bench
-Motorola 68HC11 EVB
-MAX232 cable
And this is nothing compared to what must be cluttering other blokes' sheds
. Nice one, Mangus, but my Grumpy quote of the week is, "Prom Burning can go way beyond just prom burning". Many of us are certainly on the way to "way beyond"
. I'm sure there is Prom Burning in heaven, because there can't be any "flashers"
up there!John

I've know a fair number of guys that have really changed over the years, after starting to burn proms. The ability to stop, think, research, and then act is not a nature trait for alot of folks. Once it beomes a habit, it spills over into other parts of one's life. I knew one guy, that even started reading operating manuals, when he bought something new.

Manuals?
Reading the manual BEFORE there's a problem!
That goes against the Male thought process completely.
We should be carefull or we could upset the balance of the universe here!
