ECM vrs Torque converter :O

was wondering if any of you knew way around this *problem*

switched to carb....so i have no TPS to tell the TC to lock up and when not to lock up.

i have the TC lock up wired to a switch VIA ALDL.

but who wants to flip a switch every time they hit the highway.

anyways, anyone know a way to make this automatic again???

any way to get a prom to bypass the need for the TPS and somehow rely upon the MAP and VSS to make the TC lock and unlock

IIRC there is the option of using the MAP rather then the TPS for the torque converter load thresholds, but youd need prom burning equipment to do it. If your going to go that route, might as well move the spark over to the ecms control as well, or restore total control to teh computer since youll have the necessary equipment to tune it. Odds are against that so Id just pull all the remaining crap for the defunct EFI and see if its possible to get ahold of the older mechanical TCC controls. I think they *might* have made them for some of the older vehicles to control the lockup. Not sure where youd find one, though. May even be aftermarket stuff but Ive never checked.

Looks like painless makes one to lock it up in 4th using a high gear switch. The summit PN is PRF-60109. Bit pricey at 125 dollars but it would be easier then messing with the ecm or using a switch all the time.

yeah they made vaccum controlled switched thatll hoko up to the TCC connectors and activate and deactivate the TC VIA vaccum pull....deactivates at 3 lbs activates at 7 lbs

i was just wondering if any of the prom burner here knew how to do it and would be willing to write a chip for me for like 30 bucks ....since the vaccum method costs like 38....

dont need anything else modified...just a pure stock fuelmap spark map all that good stuff.....just need the ecm to control the Torque converter.....seeing as how it controls nothing as it is
