350 prom in 305

I found out that my 305 tpi is running a 350 chip.I have a 305 chip in my garage but my car runs great without it.Will running the 350 chip hurt anything?

run alot richer than normal,. 350 has 22# inj and your 305 only has 19# unless they were changed, i suggest running the appropriate chip for your combo or follow the stickies above and get inot doing your own tuning

The difference may or may not be as great as you might think. Due to the difference in injector size, the pulse width may be the same for both chips, albeit I heard for the 85's they did run richer than the 305 chip. I don't know about the 86-89 chips.

The other difference should be in the ignition lead/timing. The 350's have larger pistons so the spark has to happen sooner to sweep the larger piston area. The ADS chip will also have a different lockup point for the torque converter.

If it is running too rich, lower the fuel pressure with your AFPR and keep the advantage of the higher spark lead time and higher rpm TQ lockup.....

PS: You may need to put the 305 chip back in to pass California smog so don't toss it........

Well,it actually passed smog with that chip in it and here in Eldorado county you only have to smog your car one time, when you buy it..I took it to the dealer and they said it was out of an 88 trans am with a 350.Something has been done to the chip because the primary fan stay on when you start the car.

Is AC intact still, or has it been pulled? With the AC pressure switch removed, and the connector not jumpered, the primary fan will run constantly.

The difference is the high pressure switch in your A/C compressor is different than the one the chip was designed for. As I understand it from all the questions I have been asking on this subject. The Camaro's had a N/C switch and the Corvette's had a N/O switch. You could end up blowing the seals on your A/C compressor by running the wrong switch/chip combination..... I've also heard that 89 and up Camaro's have the N/O switch as well.

One way to check that would be to turn on the A/C and see if the fan goes off in about 20 seconds. If so, then you need to swap back to the other chip.......
