mounting a WB02 sensor question

I am on the GP for the Zeitronix WB, and when I get it I want to build a mount for the sensor that will allow me to slip it into the tailpipe of all my cars. I know that the threaded bung would be the best route, but I want to be able to try it out on some friends cars too.

I was thinking about putting it into a 1-1/4 or 1 1/2 inch diameter pipe about a foot long, with the sensor in the middle. Then clamping it in the exhaust pipe to be measured.

My questions are about the length of pipe before and after the sensor. Would 6" be long enough to minimize the atmospheric air from contaminating my readings? Does anyone have some good measurements to use? Im open to all ideas. thanks.

Lots ideas, and opinions here

Been using one for years.
Latest verionson is about a foot long with 9" reaching into the tailpipe. And using some needle nose vise grips welded onto the pipe to hold it in place. Seems to read a lil false lean on overrun, but that's no big deal. This has been with the LM1 and DIY versions, I don't know how well your's will read this way. There are differences in WB designs. The best thing to do when experimenting, is to run two at a time, and compare the readings. Or mount it in one location and data log it, and thenin the other and comare the logs.

Thanks Doc.

That was what I was looking for. 9" works for you, so I may start there. I guess it cant be in too far. Thanks for the reply.
