Highway Spark Mode Questions

1. While looking through a custom bin file I noticed the minimum rpm for highway spark mode was set to 6350 rpm. Several other 'stock' bins were the same way. I could understand it if this was the maximum, but with this as the minimum, it should never kick in. I can understand the aftermarket bin being this high to prevent HSM from kicking in while racing, but why would a stock bin not have it lowered to the rpm the car runs at 55 mph. What's the real deal????

2. On the minimum temperature for HSM, the aftermarket bin file has a setting of 300*F and the stock is 139*F. I would assume this to HSM from kicking in. Is this a correct assumption?

I'm asking because I'm interested in developing a mileage bin for my car since I frequently take 300 mile (one way) trips in the car. I have a 1500 mile round trip coming up in about three weeks....

Also, would an AFR of 16 be acceptable for flat highway cruising? I have a PROMinator PRO so I could switch to a different bin if I encountered hills....

HSM is disabled from the factory because running it increases NOx and the EPA doesn't like that. So, the RPM setting is to make sure that it never comes on. The temp setting is set the same way. Enableing will help milage but I wouldn't start at 16:1. Start at the stock setting and see how it works. I'd caution against upping the AFR too much without a WBO2 or some way to monitor the actual AFR. You don't want to melt something.

And lastly...search there is a lot of info on this subject!
