747 bin questions...yes, I've searched!
I incorporated part of this question in an earlier post, but didn't get an answer (which is good because I searched harder and learned more new stuff). I'm putting together a 454 TB set up on a 406 with a 700R4 (350 Vortec heads w/ steam holes, 350 truck exhaust manifolds, full dual exhaust, rv cam). I have a 1227747 ECM.
The question is, which Bin to start from, 454 or 350? The problem is that the 454 bins all seen to have THM 400 as the auto trans associated with them. I have a 700R and I'm worried about cooking it due to PE mode coming in too soon when the TV cable isn't providing enough line pressure.
I've also been looking at the files in Tunercat. The 454 seems to have a Burst knock retard option while the 350 does not. The spark tables and retard tables are quite different looking.
I was told by a couple of people to use a 7.4L bin with the peoper trans, but how is that possibel if the 7.4L never had my trans? If anybody knows where to find such a Bin, please let me know.
Thanks.

It's *run the .bin closest to your combination*.
Your engine combo is so far from any *normal* engine your going to have to do alot of tweaking to even get close.
I'd suggest you start with the BPC just to even get in the neighborhood.
As soon as you get it to run, start data logging and looking at where the engine idles so you know where to begin in the VE table.

Don't worry too much about the starter bin, I've tried v6, 350, and 454 bins. Just get the fuel and spark close. I would try a 350 bin from 1991.

I think what I'm going to do is start with a 5.7L 700R4 Bin. Then, for the VE1 & VE2 tables, put in the average between the 454 and 350 values (402cid). I'm thinkin that'll be a good place to start, just to get it to run. Of course, I'm gonna up te fuel press. and bump down the BPW constant.
Are there any other tables that I should try doing this average value thing to? Spark Tables? PE?AE?Let me know what you think.
Thanks.

I'm working on a similar project except I put a 454 in front of a 700R4. I'm also starting with a 5.7L 700R4 combo, but took the two fuel tables and the spark table from a 454 auto (T450) bin. Haven't tried it yet though. Too dang cold (or maybe I'm just too dang lazy).
I'd like to know how it comes out for your engine, keep us posted.

I'd look at the timing tables from a newer vortec headed truck.
The 350/454 ref engines both have completely diffferent design port/chamber heads. Or just stick a carb table in that you make up. With low numbers.. Vortec heads don't require a lot of timing.
For the Trans, you should make sure and put in bigger boost valves in the pump. Maybe a .500 valve. And make sure you at least have the truck servo. The vette would be better. And a Transgo shift kit would be about as good as it gets w/o replacing hard parts.
Trans build link-no bs parts
