E-Prom giving me problems.

Ok every since a while back when i started messing with chips, after i took the original out, this problem has bugged the crap out of me forever. Sometimes when im driving down the road, the SES light will start blinking rapidly, and when this happens all i have to do is take the chip out and re-insert it, like it isnt making good connection or something. What could cause this, its really starting to get very annoying.

A bad adapter connection.
When you pull the chip you dump the dtc.
Get the codes first to help narrow it down.

Sounds like it's not making a good connection or something.

If it just does it with one chip, then it's probably a bad chip. If it does it with several chips, then you have a poor connection, in the prom to ecm holder/adapter.

I would replace your EPROM Socket with a nice ZIF socket and ensure that you have good solder joints on it when you install it.

I had the same problem on my Talon when I was running a 5 inch EPROM Extention ribbon cable. Could just be that the cable was to long or it wasn't making a good connection.

Also I've noticed that actual EPROM's usually work a lot better than ATMEL chips do. I've had problems with ATMELs just loosing data after time and with a EPROM I've never had that problem. So once I get a good tune I just burn a EPROM and leave it until I mod something else that requires a change.
