Trying to Read Hypertech chip
Trying to Read Hypertech chip
Burned my 1st chip
Helped me solve a No-Start condition by turning off VATS. Payed for itself its first use.
Anyway....I used an ARAP bin to get my car running again. Car had a Hypertech chip in it. I would like to read this chip to compare to the ARAP. I'm having problems getting this chip read. It FAILED every time I clicked on Verify Chip With Buffer...and I couldn't get it read. Its an 1989 MAF 350 w/ and Automatic Hypertech chip. Does it have some kind of protection so I can't read its programming? Or, what's the proper way to read it? Using Flash & Burn BTW
thanks

You could try using moates ecm852 to download it over the obd connection. http://www.moates.net/zips/ECM852.ZIP

I did not have a problem reading the 89 hypertech 350 tpi chip, it was a 27c256 in stead of the 27c128 that came in the stock memcal
Appreciate the help.
Got it to work. Read it as the 128 (read only) file. Wouldn't verify still, but I had to save it as a .bin file. Then I was able to bring it in to my TunerPro. Comparing to the ARAP bin now.

OK...
I'm looking at a lot of this stuff in TunerPro and just trying to figure it out....some is apparent, some is not.
Comparing the Hyperchip to the ARAP bin
Flags 1st...
1st and 2nd Air flow Mode Word were identical
On the 3rd Air flow Mode Word:
Hyper chip has the Bit 7, Bit 3, and Reset checked
ARAP has the BPW and Reset checked
On the 4th Air Flow Mode Word:
Hyper has the FANNO, CCPIN, and 4thGr checked
ARAP only has the CCPIN checked.
What's the differences there?
Better yet...where can I get a detailed explanation of all these items (constants, flags, tables) in TunerPro? I looked in the Help, but maybe I missed it...
